Fad diets are easily recognized from healthier balanced diets by what they allow you to consume. In other words, most fad diets are very radical, and starve a person of nutrients so that they can lose weight quickly, and not sensibly. What I consider fad diets are these:1. Adkins Diet. This diet while it makes you lose weight quickly, deeply deprives you of the needed carbohydrates your body needs for energy and fuel. Many people on Adkins do not get the nourishment they need since most healthy whole grains are out. This
?is ridiculous! And fruits which provide a wealth of antioxidants are not allowed on plan.2. The Slim-Fast Plan and others that use shakes instead of wholesome meals. The Slim-Fast Plan is non-sense. They don't allow a wholesome breakfast or lunch, and by dinner you are so hungry, you can easily pig out altogether. This is not the practice of healthy nutrition, and diabetics and people with other medical conditions need to be aware!3. The Grapefruit Diet or Cabbage Soup Diet. The Grapefruit Diet is much too radical, not allowing many healthy foods OR snacks! The food allowed is very restricted on this plan and in my personal opinion, severely deprives a person. On day two, it doesn't get any better than this, and continues on with only three food choices a day on the author's list. 5. Nutri-System and Jenny Craig are two diets that I consider fad diets. You have to eat their foods prepared in a box 24/7 until you reach your desired weight. They are these little baby portions and not balanced enough to stay healthy.
