Joey Chestnut Wins 2009 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest?title. Joey Chestnut proved he was up to the challenge by defending his 2008 Nathan's title, and defeated Kobayashi by a few dogs in order to get another trophy for his trophy room. The 2009 Nathan's hot dog eating contest took place at Coney Island, and saw many people participating to see who could go home with the 2009 title for eating the most hot dogs.Joey Chestnut set a world record in hot dog consumption during the 2009 Nathan's contest, and was able to eat 68 hot dogs during the 10 minute competition. That is an amazing 6.8 hot dogs consumed every minute, which is both amazing and gross all at the same time. It was enough to give Joey Chestnut his third consecutive title at the Nathan's world competition, and he did it all while breaking the previous world record. In 2008 it took an overtime period to settle the championship with Kobayashi, but this year it only took him ten minutes to dispatch all of the competition. To put in perspective what Joey Chestnut was able to accomplish, he had already finished 23 hot dogs by the time two minutes had expired on the clock. The early lead ended up holding up for the 25-year old, who remained comfortably in charge of the competition all the way up until the final bell. In the end though, the final numbers look pretty close, as in competition of Chestnut's 68 hot dogs, Kobayashi was still able to consume 64 of his own. Last year, both Kobayashi and Chestnut had finished off 59 hot dogs in regulation, making that competition pale in comparison to the 2009 contest.Joey Chestnut Wins 2009 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest
